  1. I take a very balanced approach to technology and fully support the work by Center for Humane Technology.
  2. I love the work from BBC on Human Values and am inspiring to apply those principles into my work.
  3. I believe there is a future existence beyond screens as Bret Victor is envisioning with his Dynamicland project.
  4. I think Maggie Appleton is doing some of the most interesting and exciting explorations within the design field.
  5. Neal.fun is one of the greatest websites of all time, maintaining the playful spirit of the original web.
  6. Some of the most impressive projections of the future are Her, WALL-E, and any book by Neal Stephenson, but most recently for me, The Diamond Age.
  7. My all-time favorite RPGs are: Chrono Trigger, Fantasian, and Super Mario RPG.
  8. I sometimes wonder about what a pushback on AI would look like in the same vein as the Arts & Crafts Movement.
  9. 37Signals is really onto something with the way they operate.
  10. This satire of the modern web experience is so true!


A good designer...

  1. Always tries to understand the "why"
  2. Is a patient educator
  3. Practices close collaboration
  4. Has a low ego and leads by example
  5. Defaults to expressing ideas visually
  6. Communicates concisely with minimal jargon
  7. Thinks broadly across systems and users
  8. Embraces and demystifyes complexity
  9. Strategically over-delivers despite tight timelines
  10. Knows how to maintain sense of play


A good manager...

  1. Prioritizes ruthlessly according to business strategy
  2. Is an active listener who really cares
  3. Proactively removes barrriers for the team
  4. Fully believes in the team's abilities & growth potential
  5. Protects mental and emotional well-being of the team
  6. Conducts regular rituals to promote team chemistry
  7. Seeks diversity in talent for balance
  8. Negotiates well and to find win-wins across the org
  9. Is willing to take both risks and blame
  10. Knows when to get out of the way
